Principal News
Dear Parents and Friends of St Kevin's,
Welcome to another term of learning and fun at St Kevin’s. Term 2 is where a lot of heavy lifting is done for each subject as we complete planned learning for semester 1. Term 1 saw us establish our routines and expectations and acceptable levels of behaviour. When the behaviour and well-being of students is being met both at school and home, then the learning flourishes. I look forward to observing this flourishing, learning environment, and ask that you too as parents engage in your child’s learning through asking the following questions.
- What are you learning in .........(pick a subject)
- How is your learning going?
- How do you know that your learning is going that way?
- Why do think you’re learning about that?
- Where do you go for help in your learning?
- What is your goal for your learning in ......?
The students are familiar with these questions and should be able to give you some insight into how they are doing at school.
Year 3 and 4 are going to the zoo overnight to enhance their learning, and upon returning to school will complete various tasks to demonstrate their learning. I look forward to reading their information reports on an animal of choice next week.
Enjoy the weekend where we all continue to learn at netball, football, soccer, drama, dance, by participating, following rules, displaying sportsmanship and teamwork. We are always learning.

This comment is often made by visiting teachers and new members of our community and we would like to share it with you. Casual/visiting teachers and new members of our community regularly comment on the beautiful manners of our students, their ability to listen and take turns plus how eager they are to learn. This doesn’t happen by accident. As we always say, it takes a village to raise a child, and we are an awesome village. So, thank you and congratulations to all the parents and teachers who are modelling and ensuring that good manners and great listening skills are part of our children's/students' everyday lives and are expected each and every day in all that we do. Your hard work is reaping great benefits and creating a very positive reputation in the wider community.
